Configuring Microsoft 365 email on an Android phone

 Procedure

Office 365 Email may be set up on an Android phone in two ways:

Automatic configuration

  1. Open the Android Email application .

    Note:  The email app icon may look different depending on your device manufacturer.
     
  2. If you are not given the option to select an email provider, tap the settings icon in the top left corner, then scroll down to settings and tap it. Tap Add Account.
  3. Click the Exchange account button.



    Note: This option may be named Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync or Corporate on some versions of Android. It may also be under "Other Providers."
     
  4. Enter your Email address and Password
  5. Click Sign-in

Manual configuration

  1. Open the Android Email application.

    Note:  The email app icon may look different depending on your device manufacturer.
     
  2. If you are not given the option to select an email provider, tap the settings icon in the top left corner, then scroll down to settings and tap it. Tap Add Account.
  3. Click the Exchange account button.



    Note: This option may be named Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync or Corporate on some versions of Android. It may also be under "Other Providers."
     
  4. In the Email address box (and Domain/Username, if applicable), type your full email address. (Example willie@ksu.edu)
    Domain should be "\eid@ksu.edu" 

    Note: You must use "ksu" instead of "k-state".
     
  5. In the Password box, type your eID password and then click Next.

    Note:  A "remote security administration" warning may come up, select OK.
     
  6. In the Server box, type outlook.office365.com if any other address was showing. Nothing else should need changed. If a message about certificates appears, just try tapping next again.
  7. Make sure the Use secure connection (SSL) checkbox is checked then click Next.


     
  8. On the next page, select the components to sync, then tap Done.



    Note:  An activation device administrator screen may open, indicating all of the security features that need to be accepted for Office 365 connectivity. These need to be accepted by clicking the Activate button to connect your Android device to Office 365.   9. Enter a name for the account and then tap Done.

    Note:   You may need to wait 10-to-15 minutes after you set up your account before you can send or receive email.
