Some items to keep in mind when deciding which is right for your needs.

Shared Accounts

  • Shared accounts have their own folders in the email account of the members.
  • At this time, only the owner of the Shared account can add Calendar events in the Shared account calendar and have them viewable by other members of the account.
  • Shared accounts cannot be forwarded to other Shared accounts.
  • If you set up an IMAP account in Outlook, you can subscribe to the Shared folders so you can view them in Outlook.
  • Shared accounts that were converted from an old Group eID will retain any calendars that were included in the Group account.
  • Shared account members can remove existing calendars (converted from a Group eID) but cannot add new calendars once it is a Shared account.
  • See About shared accounts for more information.

Distribution Lists

  • Distribution lists are ONLY for sending out emails to the members of the list.
  • Distribution lists do NOT have a folder or calendar associated with the account.
  • Distribution lists act like the old alias function.
  • See the Mailing lists website for more information.
