Windows: Uninstalling drivers in Windows

 Objective

To uninstall a driver on a Windows 10 device, follow the instructions below. 

 

 Audience

  • Students
  • Faculty
  • Staff
  • Guests

 

 Environment  

  • Windows 10

 

 Procedure

  1. Right-click the Start Menu in the bottom-left corner.


     
  2. Click Device Manager.


     
  3. Right-click the device and click Uninstall

  4. Restart computer.

Note: Current Windows computers store a copy of device drivers. As Windows restarts, the computer recognizes new hardware and typically reinstalls the driver for the hardware automatically. To uninstall the hardware entirely, you need to disconnect the hardware or stop the automatic reinstallation.
