Requesting Deprovisioning of an eID

 About

Department Heads, Directors, Deans or Vice Presidents may request deprovisioning of an eID, prior to the deprovisioning that occurs through the end of an appointment cycle. The administrator might be concerned that a terminated employee could use privileges associated with a K-State eID for inappropriate purposes such as hacking into systems and/or inappropriately spamming colleagues, alumni and administrators.

The request to deprovision an eID is typically sent via a Team Dynamix ticket.

 Audience

  • Service Desk Staff

 Details

  1. IT Help Desk consultants create a Team Dynamix ticket and attaches the email from the unit. The ticket needs to include:
    • the eID
    • the deprovisioning that is to occur: e.g. administrator access to a system (HRIS, KSIS, Canvas, etc.), access to email and/or complete removal of eID from the all systems
    • the timing the deprovisioning is to occur (immediately, next business day, specific date).

  2. IT Help Desk consultant reassigns the ticket to an IT Service Desk manager.

  3. IT Service Desk manager takes the appropriate action including follow up with the requesting administrator.

 Notes

  • The request must be approved by the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of ITS.
  • Many K-State systems use the eID/password for access and become unavailable to the employee once the eID is deprovisioned.
