Reactivating Duo mobile on a new cell phone

 Objective

This article describes how to reactivate Duo mobile on a new cell phone but retain your phone number.

 Procedure

  1. Go to the eProfile page at eid.ksu.edu.
  2. Make sure to select "more options" and then "call me" to authenticate to log in to this page.
  3. Either click on the left navigation Duo device settings. Or click on the link under Two-Factor Authentication Management.
  4. If the sidebar option was selected, click the Purple Button in the middle of the screen.


     
  5.  This will prompt DUO, go ahead and verify with one of the devices (s) listed.
       
                                            
     
    1. Note: If your authentication has expired, you must hit the "call me" option or get a bypass code from the IT service desk ​​​​​​
  6. Then, click on the Old Device you wish to reactivate. 


     
  7. Select I Have A New Phone option.
    1. Note: If your phone does not support the Duo mobile app, select the phone number instead. If you need to add a security key, contact the IT service desk to set that up.                                                                                                                                                                                                                
  8. After selecting the option, select Call Me, this will prompt duo to call your phone to verify ownership.                                                            
  9. DUO will ask to verify the number, select the Call me option, pick up the call that will be incoming, and confirm with the numbers that will be spoken.

                              
                              
  10. Next, scan the QR code on the screen or press Get an activation link instead to send a verification code to an email about your choice.        
  11. IF On iPhone: you can touch the QR code to send you to DUO mobile.                                                                                                                                                                      
  12. IF On Andriod: you will not be prompted with the QR code. Instead, you'll get a button to take you to DUO mobile.
                               
                 
             
       

  13. If you scanned the QR code, the account should be set up. For activation links, go to the email
    that it was sent to, and click the link on your mobile device that you wish to set up.

     
     
  14. After that, the device should be set up. 
     
         
     
  15. To rename a device, click on the Blue Edit Pencil at the top right of the device tile.
  16. Then, click the Rename option in blue.   
     
     
     
  17. Then, rename the device to something that would describe it as being from other devices connected to DUO.     

 Note: This name will show up on any DUO prompts henceforth.  

   

 Notes

If your mobile phone number has changed, you must bring it to the IT Help Desk on the 2nd floor of Hale Library or call (785) 532-7722 for assistance.
