Connecting to K-State wireless networks

Summary

K-State has four primary wireless networks to which students, faculty, and staff may connect: KSU Guest, KSU Wireless, KSU Housing. This article will discuss how to connect to KSU wireless and housing. The steps for guests are similar but without the login requirement.

K-State has four primary wireless networks to which students, faculty, and staff may connect.

  • KSU Wireless — A secure network for current students, faculty and staff not living in residence halls or the Jardine Apartments.
  • KSU Housing — A secure network for residence halls and the Jardine Apartments residents.
  • KSU Guest — Campus visitors can use this network, which has NO security and does not require an eID/password.
  • eduroam:  A secure international roaming service allows users from other eduroam-enabled institutions to securely access K-State's wireless network using credentials from their home institution.

 Procedure

Click an option below for instructions:

  1. Open System Settings
  2. Tap Wi-Fi.
  3. Tap KSU Wireless
  4. In the EAP Method box select PEAP.
  5. In the Phase 2 Authentication box select MSCHAPV2.
  6. Select Use system certificates for CA certificate, and leave the two drop-downs that appear as TLS v1.0 and Do not verify.
  7. For the domain type net.k-state.edu (only if it says "Must specify a domain")
  8. In the Identity box, type your eID. 
  9. Leave the Anonymous Identity box as anonymous.
  10. In the Password box, type your eID password. 
  11. Tap Save or Connect

 Notes

If you've recently changed the password associated with your eID and you are having trouble connecting to K-State wireless networks you may need to forget the network first.
