Objective
All K-State students, faculty, and staff are provided with a personal OneDrive for Business storage intended for business purposes. OneDrive comes with 5 TB file storage that can be synced across all your devices.

Procedure
Copying data from the Y: Drive to OneDrive
You can move your files from Y: Drive to OneDrive by either dragging and dropping or copying and pasting your files.
Dragging and dropping
- Open two File Explorer (PC) or Mac Finder (Mac) windows.
- In one window, navigate to the Y: Drive (source folder).
- In the other window, navigate to OneDrive (target folder).
- In the Y: Drive, select the files and folders to be copied.
- Drag the selected files and folders to the OneDrive target location and drop them.
- Wait until the file copying process is completed before attempting to drag-n-drop another group of files and folders.
- Once the files have been copied to OneDrive, delete the files on Y: Drive. If you do not delete your files on Y dive, you will have two copies and risk making edits to the wrong copy.
Copying and pasting
- Open two File Explorer (PC) or Mac Finder (Mac) windows.
- In one window, navigate to the Y: Drive (source folder).
- In the other window, navigate to OneDrive (target folder).
- In the Y: Drive, select the files and folders to be copied.
- Press [Ctrl]+C (PC) or [command]+C (Mac) to copy the selected files and folders.
- Navigate to the OneDrive target location.
- Click in the target folder and press [Ctrl]+V (PC) or [command]+C (Mac) to paste the files into the target folder.
- Wait until the file copying process is completed before attempting to copy-n-paste another group of files and folders.
- Once the files have been copied to OneDrive, delete the files on Y: Drive. If you do not delete your files on Y dive, you will have two copies and risk making edits to the wrong copy.
After copying all files and folders to OneDrive, review the OneDrive files for completeness. Once you have verified that your files are complete, you need to delete your files from the Y: Drive. Deleting your files off of the Y: Drive will help to ensure that you do not have duplicate copies of your files and that edits to your files are not made in two separate places. Once you have moved your files to OneDrive, you may need to update shortcuts or links associated with those files.
