Removing saved email passwords from Outlook for Windows

Summary

Outlook may show as disconnected from the server after your eID password is changed. These steps will remove your old saved password and allow you to enter your new password into Outlook.

Remove old saved password and allow entry of a new password in Outlook.

 Procedure

  1. Close Outlook.
  2. In the Windows Search box, type Credential Manager and click OK.

    Type Credential Manager
     
  3. If using Windows 10, click Windows Credentials. (Skip this step if you are using Windows 7)
  4. Under Generic Credentials, find your email address (eID@ksu.edu).
  5. For each of those lines, click the drop-down arrow and click Remove.

    Remove entries that include your K-State email address
     
  6. Repeat step 4 for any other email accounts you have connected to Outlook that are having connectivity issues.
  7. Open Outlook again. It should prompt for an updated password.
