Issue

When attempting to watch a Mediasite presentation in Canvas, the following error message appears:

"Mediasite LTI Error: You are not authorized to view the content. Please contact your instructor."

Cause

The presentation has insufficient permissions to be displayed using the Canvas LTI tool.

Solution

The instructor should modify the presentation's security settings to grant View rights to "AuthenticatedUsers." This can be accomplished in several ways:

Method 1

1. From within the list of presentations in your MyMediasite portal, select the name of the presentation you wish to modify. The presentation summary will appear.
2. Select Edit Security from the right-side column.
3. Check the box adjacent to Inherit permissions from parent folder.
4. Select Save.

This procedure essentially "resets" the permissions on the presentation to match those of the channel or folder where the presentation resides.

Method 2

1. From within the list of presentations in your MyMediasite portal, select the name of the presentation you wish to modify. The presentation summary will appear.
2. Under Who Can View in the right-side column, move the slider to My Organization.
