 Objective

Create a new element in a Qualtrics survey to limit access of the survey and to track who has completed it, by implementing the use of authentication via K-State's Single Sign On (SSO).

 Procedure

  1. Sign into Qualtrics
    1. https://survey.ksu.edu
       
  2. Open an existing survey.
     
  3. On the left navigation pane, select Survey flow.


     
  4. In the main working pane, click the link + Add a New Element Here

  1. From the menu items that appear in the box, select Authenticator

  1. In the Branch on Successful Authentication pane edit the following:
    1. Authentication Type change to “SSO”
    2. Associate Respondent With Panel uncheck this box
    3. Capture respondent identifying info check this box
    4. Click the link Add Embedded Data…
      1. Add “FirstName” = “givenName”
      2. Add “LastName” = “sn”
      3. Add “Email” = “Mail”
    5. SSO Type change to “Shibboleth”
    6. Connection set to kstate
       
  2. Realign the flow block items by using the Move link on the Show Block: Default Question Block and drag it to the +Add a New Element Here link below the Branch on Successful Authentication block.

  1. In the lower right corner, click the Apply button to save

 

 Notes

By using this element, reports can be created to track which K-State faculty, staff, and students have completed your survey. You can also create a report of their KSU emails for future contact.
