Online Teval: Distribute Evaluation

 Objective

Distributing evaluations on Teval to students.

 Audience

  • Faculty
  • Staff

 Environment

  • Teval

 Procedure

Teval evaluations are distributed by email at 2am on the date(s) you chose when creating your evaluation. The evaluation invitation email is sent to student's preferred email address that they have set in K-State Canvas, or if they did not set that, then they will receive the email in their K-State email.

You set the length of time your Teval will be available to students. The start date is the first date the evaluation is available to students and the end date marks the last day the evaluation is available. You can also set up reminder emails to be sent to students.

  1. On the Distribution & Reminders page, choose a Start Date. This is the date the evaluation will be sent to students. Only those students on your K-State Canvas roster at the time your evaluation is sent (not created) will receive an email invitation to complete your Teval.

  2. Choose an End Date. This is the last date that your evaluation is available to students. An email will not be sent to students on this date unless you set a reminder message for this date.

NOTE: You can change the End Date at any time, to either shorten or extend your evaluation availability, even while your evaluation is active.

  1. Customize the Message that will be emailed to students, if desired. You will receive a copy of this email when the evaluation is sent. This is the content of the email that will be sent to students:

    1. Subject line (cannot be customized): TEVAL for [COURSE NAME]. Please complete by [END DATE].

    2. Message (can be customized): The [COURSE INSTRUCTOR’S NAME] for [COURSE NAME] is asking that you complete the online Teval Survey this semester.

    3. Additional Message (cannot be customized): Please give honest and thoughtful answers to the questions on the TEVAL Survey. Your individual responses will be anonymous; a summary of the responses from the class will be provided to the course instructor and usually to the department head. Responsible student ratings can help instructors improve and can help department heads make more valid judgments about teaching effectiveness when making recommendations about salary, promotion, and tenure.
