About
Read&Write is a comprehensive productivity tool designed to support reading, writing, studying, and research. The customizable toolbar is compatible with several common applications. Highlighted features include:
- Text to Speech - read and listen to content for better comprehension.
- Vocabulary list builder - create vocabulary lists with definitions for studying.
- Speech maker - create an MP3 version of your text for on-the-go listening.
- Highlighter tool - gather and organize information on the web by highlighting and then gathering those highlights in Microsoft Word.
- Scan - scan PDFs and make them searchable and accessible.
Any active K-State student, faculty, or staff can download Read&Write for home or office use at no cost. An eID and password are required.

Select your operating system below for installation instructions.
- Download Read&Write for Windows.
- Right-click setup.zip and click Extract All.
- In the window that opens, click Extract.
- Double-click the setup folder and then double-click read-write.exe.
- Click Accept and Install. After a short time Read&Write will be installed on your computer.

- Double-click the Read&Write icon on your Desktop.
- Click the Read&Write tab at the top of your screen. This will open a web browser

- Click Sign in with Microsoft.
- Type your K-State email address into the box.
- Click Work or school account and then use your Kansas State University eID to sign in.
- Download Read&Write for MacOS.
- Double-click the read&write.dmg.
- Drag and drop the Read&Write icon on the Applications folder and then wait for the copy to finish.

- Double-click the Applications folder and then double-click Read&Write.
- A window will open warning you it is downloaded from the internet. Click Open.
- Click Sign in with Microsoft.
- Type your K-State email address into the box.
- Click Work or school account and then use your Kansas State University eID to sign in. If prompted to approve permissions click Accept.
