At Kansas State University, people often need to connect to data or resources on the K-State campus while they are at home or traveling. The use of the GlobalProtect VPN allows people to connect securely so data remains safe in transit between their computer and the VPN firewall.

Downloading and installing the GlobalProtect VPN app

  1. Go to and sign in with your Kansas State eID and password.

  2. When prompted for a passcode, type either push for a Duo push notification or phone to have it call your authenticating device. If you authenticate with a Duo hardware token, the codes generated by it will also work.
Note: Codes generated within the Duo mobile app WILL NOT work.

  3. Click Download Windows 64-bit GlobalProtect agent.

Note: Most Windows computers purchased in the Fall of 2015 or later should have Windows 10 64-bit installed.

  1. Double-click the GlobalProtect file and then click Next.

Note: If the downloaded file cannot be found in your browser, it may be found in File Explorer in the Downloads folder.

  2. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click Next.
  3. Click Install and then click Yes to allow Windows to install the software.

Connecting to the VPN

Note: This can be done in one of two ways:
    • In Windows Search (lower-left corner), type GlobalProtect.

    • In the system tray area (lower-right of the Desktop), click the Show Hidden Icons arrow, and click the GlobalProtect icon.

  3. Type your eID and password and then click Sign In.

Note: In the Username box, type only your eID. Do not include your email address.

Note: If you do NOT use Duo, GlobalProtect will connect you. If you use Duo, follow the directions below.

Note: These options will show up as dots when entered into the VPN's passcode field.

Send Me a Push
