Objective
To detail how to download, install and connect to the GlobalProtect VPN app.

Procedure
At Kansas State University, people often need to connect to data or resources on the K-State campus while they are at home or traveling. The use of the GlobalProtect VPN allows people to connect securely so data remains safe in transit between their computer and the VPN firewall.
Downloading and installing the GlobalProtect VPN app
- Go to https://gpvpn.ksu.edu and sign in with your Kansas State eID and password.

- Click Download Windows 64-bit GlobalProtect agent.
Note: Most Windows computers purchased in the Fall of 2015 or later should have Windows 10 64-bit installed.

- Double-click the GlobalProtect file and then click Next.
Note: If the downloaded file cannot be found in your browser, it may be found in File Explorer in the Downloads folder.
- Select I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click Next.
- Click Install and then click Yes to allow Windows to install the software.
Connecting to the VPN
- Open the GlobalProtect VPN application.
Note: This can be done in one of two ways:
- In Windows Search (lower-left corner), type GlobalProtect.

OR
- In the system tray area (lower-right of the Desktop), click the Show Hidden Icons arrow, and click the GlobalProtect icon.

- In the portal address box, type gpvpn.ksu.edu as the portal address and then click Connect.
Note: This is needed the first time you open GlobalProtect. The settings should be saved for future connections.

- Type your eID and password and then click Sign In.
Note: In the Username box, type only your eID. Do not include your email address.

Note: If you do NOT use Duo, GlobalProtect will connect you. If you use Duo, follow the directions below.
Authenticating with Duo
- Only Duo users are required to follow the next steps.
- If you need assistance, call the IT Help Desk at 785-532-7722.
Duo users are have three options to use to authenticate. What you type is not displayed. Only bullet points appear in the text box.
Perform one of the verification options below:
Send Me a Push
- In the Enter passcode box, type Push and then click OK to generate a push to your primary Duo two-factor authentication push device (not usable by DUO tokens).

- Click Approve on the authentication device to verify access.
Call Me
- In the Enter passode box, type Phone and click OK.

- Answer the call and select any key on your phone's keypad to approve your access.
Enter a Passcode
- Open the Duo Mobile on your phone.
- Select Duo-Protected Kansas State University - ISC. A six-digit code is generated for you.
OR press the button on your hardware token to generate a new code.
- In the Passcode box, type this code with no spaces and then click OK.

Note: If you are not able to connect after several attempts, call the IT Help Desk at 785-532-7722 for assistance.
Disconnecting from the VPN
- On the right-side of your toolbar, click the GlobalProtect button.

- Click Disconnect.
